Funding Opportunities

1. Eva's Initiatives’ Awards for Ending Youth Homelessness

The Sprott Foundation, Virgin Unite and Eva’s Initiative are pleased to offer four awards of $25,000 each for organizations working with homeless and at-risk youth. Applicants must be Canadian incorporated nonprofit organizations; registered charities or organizations sponsored by, or affiliated with, a registered charity (Deadline December 10, 2012). 2. 2012/13 Grants from Civil Forfeiture Proceeds

Minister Shirley Bond has announced that up to $1 million will be available to support local crime prevention efforts throughout the province in 2012-13 (News Release). The funding will support projects aimed at preventing youth involvement in crime, combating human trafficking and sexual exploitation, preventing family violence and violence against women, and community crime prevention. Grant applications will be posted here on November 14, 2012.

3. “Buy local” programs coming to communities throughout B.C.

B.C. government funding is now available to support local food producers by encouraging British Columbians to shop for food produced in their own communities.

The Buy Local Program will offer applicants matching funds from $5,000 to $100,000 to launch or expand local food marketing campaigns. Eligible organizations include associations, co-operatives, marketing boards, Aboriginal groups, companies and non-profit organizations.

The campaigns can promote B.C. food, seafood, agricultural products, agritourism, and include in-store promotions, social media or web campaigns, traditional advertising and on-product labelling. All applicants must have a head office or be registered in B.C.

Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will be reviewed by an Industry Advisory Committee comprised of representatives from farming, manufacturing, seafood, restaurant and the retail sectors.

4. Child Care Capital Funding Program

Minor Capital Funding for Emergency Repair, Replacement and Relocation

Minor Capital Funding helps licensed group child care providers maintain quality services for families in their communities. Under this program, child care facilities may receive up to $2,000 per facility (not per licence) for:

  • Emergency upgrades or repairs to existing facilities;
  • Emergency replacement of furnishings and equipment necessary to comply with the Ministry of Health Child Care Licensing Regulation; or
  • Relocation costs when a child care facility is moving to another location.

To apply for 2012/13 Minor Capital funding:

  • Review the funding guidelines and Sample Eligible & Ineligible Items Table:

  • Complete the application form and include all required documentation:
    • 2012/13 Minor Capital Funding Application (CF 1304)
  • Mail your completed application to the address on the application form.

After your application has been received:

  • It will be reviewed to determine eligibility for funding.
  • Application processing times are up to six weeks.
  • Funding is subject to approval and availability of funds.
