Side by Side: Strategies for Working with Vulnerable Fathers
Father involvement is increasing. We are seeing more dads involved in family life in more ways than ever. However, many dads find themselves in situations that have a negative impact on their ability to be the dads their children need. We can easily assume these dads don’t know how to be a “good” dad or don’t care about being a “good” dad. The Side by Side conference, organized by Dad Central, offers an opportunity to get connected, informed, and mobilized in your work with fathers at risk.
The 2nd Canadian National Fatherhood Conference will bring together workers, clinicians, practitioners, managers, and researchers from across Canada to present and share their work with fathers. In particular, this year’s focus will encourage discussions about fathers at risk:
- Young dads
- Immigrant/newcomer dads
- Aboriginal dads
- Incarcerated dads
- Domestic violence issues
As an added feature, conference participants have been offered a special rate for a 90-minute private tour of the Human Rights Museum in Winnipeg on March 2.
The Venue is: Canad Inns Polo Park 1405 St. Matthews Ave. Winnipeg, MV R3G 3P7
