It is important that babies and toddlers get an early start in developing their motor skills. The Active for Life website provides a range of activities to help infants and toddlers build the foundations of physical literacy. Each activity can be printed off as a pdf for easy access.

The activity sheets for infants include: Tummy Time (1-6 months); Playtime (2-6 months); and Sit Up and Look (2-8 months).

Activity sheets for toddlers include:

·       Bubble catch (1-3 years)

·       Seated ball play (1-3 years)

·       Climbing (1-3 years)

·       Hand control (1-3 years)

·       Peek-a-boo (1-3 years)

·       Tiger tail (2-3 years)

·       Bunny hop (2-3 years)

The site also includes suggestions for toys to get children moving, nature exploration ideas, a printable recipe for an active day, a do-it-yourself week-long summer camp for home-based kids, ideas for getting active with your non-“sporty” child, ball hockey for toddlers and other simple ball games for young children, and many more ideas to suit different children’s personalities and interests.
